EAD (Electronic Acoustic Drum) is Yamaha's unique system that brings electronic expandability and convenience to acoustic drums. By simply attaching a dedicated sensor unit containing a special microphone and a trigger, you can capture the entire setup in high-quality stereo and combine it with built-in effects and sound sources for greater expression.

The EAD50 is a high-spec Electronic Acoustic Drum Module that expands the concept of the EAD10, and can be used in settings ranging from home to the stage. The EAD50 also integrates drum-related equipment such as a mixer, effects, and drum tone generator module into a single unit. Drummers can now customize their sound freely and expand their range of expression. In addition, the EAD50 supports a variety of needs, including live performance, video streaming, home recording, and online lessons. Its simple setup and easy connectivity expand the possibilities in both performance environments and enjoyment. The main unit is equipped with five microphone inputs, ten trigger inputs, a drum tone generator, individual outputs, and USB multichannel output. With a single EAD50, drummers can achieve a streamlined drum PA setup that meets professional standards.

The new DSU50 Drum Sensor Unit enables higher-quality sound capture. The sensor unit uses a pair of custom microphones that capture the entire drum set from a single position. These use technology normally found in high-end studio mics, giving you a clean, accurate drum sound while reducing the sound of the room which is normally picked up by traditional drum microphones. Compared with conventional drum miking that requires many microphones and cables, the EAD50 uses a simple setup in which the sensor unit is attached to the bass drum hoop to capture the entire drum kit in high quality. Because sound checks for each microphone are unnecessary, setup time is significantly reduced.

The EAD50 takes the audio from the sensor unit and processes for use with PAs or recording setups. You can blend the natural mic sound with samples, and add effects to create the tone you want. You can use the presets to get started or customise everything depending on your knowledge.
