Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Few bands have had a more fitting name or captured the currents of their era so well. Queen recognized the power of Led Zeppelin's emerging hard rock, the pop grandeur of David Bowie's glam and the ambitious progressive dreams of Pink Floyd. The band's approach is embodied in Bohemian Rhapsody, the six-minute thunderbolt that established its legend in 1975 and topped charts worldwide. Its extended progressive structure contained concise, melodic pop movements, representing a high point of 1970s rock. At Queen's heart stood arguably the greatest rock showman of the 20th century. Freddie Mercury was an androgynous figurehead, remembered above all for his talent, presence and star quality, beyond the tragic circumstances of his early death.
