1981 Inventions DRV Overdrive Pedal
Vintage-inspired. Modern precision. Unmatched tone.
The DRV Overdrive by 1981 Inventions is a boutique overdrive pedal crafted with a uniquely designed steel enclosure and premium components throughout. Built with the philosophy to spare no expense, this pedal reflects over three years of meticulous development, in collaboration with Jon Ashley of Bondi Effects.
Featuring Switchcraft 11 open-frame jacks and a super quiet soft-touch switching system via an internal relay, the DRV offers a refined analog signal path that is both powerful and silent.
Inside, you'll find two distinct circuits:
A dynamic preamp boost
A rich, harmonically complex distortion circuit
Both run at 18V via an internal voltage regulator, providing headroom and clarity that’s rare in overdrive pedals.
What sets the DRV apart is its lower gain section—subtle, responsive, and reminiscent of vintage analog gear. Yet, the high-gain side remains sweet, warm, and punchy, delivering a midrange richness and ribbon mic–like warmth perfect for heavy chords and complex harmonics.
This pedal wasn’t just a product—it became the catalyst for launching 1981 Inventions, embodying a sound that’s distinct, versatile, and deeply personal.
