Fostex TH-919 – TH Premium Series Open-Back Headphones With BioDyna Drivers, Cherry Birch

Premium headphones that harmonize traditional lacquer craftsmanship and unique acoustic technology at a high level have been completely redesigned and evolved into the next generation.

Since its release in 2012, the TH900 series has been Fostex's flagship model, captivating many audio enthusiasts with its unique BioDyna driver's superb sound quality and the unparalleled texture of its beautiful lacquered housing. The TH919 inherits these charms of the TH900 series while completely revamping everything from the driver and housing to the structure, evolving into the next generation.

Adoption of lightweight magnesium alloy mechanical parts

A refreshed design using Magnesium alloy for mechanical parts, such as the housing base plate and hanger, help reduce overall weight by 20% compared to aluminum. Rubber packing is used for the rotation mechanism to eliminate excess vibration as much as possible. The design con-cept of taking every detail of each part into consideration has further improved the wearing comfort.

Japanese traditional craft “Urushi” lacquer finish hard maple housing

The solid hard maple housing is finished with a lacquer craft developed independently by Sa-kamoto Otozo Shoten Co., Ltd., a company founded in 1900 (Meiji 33) that incorporates Japa-nese traditional crafts into industrial products. The “foil pattern,” which uses black lacquer as a base layer and sulfur-smoked silver foil torn into pieces and applied like a collage, expresses a sense of luxury and depth. The hard and high-density hard maple, combined with the hard lac-quer finish, does not add unnecessary color to the sound, allowing you to enjoy a solid, deep bass range and clear, extended high frequencies. The open-type TH919 uses aluminum material finished with matte anodizing based on a geometric pattern inspired by “Kumiko” woodwork on the housing opening, a precise two-layer structure with laser-cut mesh processing, and meticu-lous adjustment of the opening rate and internal components, reproducing a natural sound field with high resolution and minimal listening fatigue, as befits an open-type design.

Newly shaped ear pads with new materials

The new ear pads are designed with a slanted surface that optimizes the fit. The low-resilience urethane inside is made of two layers, with a soft type on the outside and a highly resilient type on the inside to fit the shape of the face. In addition, the use of silk protein synthetic leather, which is three times more durable than conventional materials, ensures a comfortable fit even during long periods of listening.

Flexible fitting head pad and headband

The head pad and headband are made of natural sheepskin material, providing a supple and comfortable fit.

Comes with a proprietary high-purity OFC unbalanced 2-pole 3.5 mm Y cable.

We have adopted 7N (99.99999%) grade high-purity OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) cable, which has been refined to the utmost degree to eliminate impurities and enhance transmission capacity, for the internal wiring and included unbalanced cable.
